Dear Mr. Widdows:
On January 5, 2023, the Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control (Division) received your response to the Division’s December 6, 2023, letter. In this letter, you requested
the following information:
That UDEQ confirm the timeline it will take to have the permitissued once hand delivered to the DEQ building, so we can schedule projects and arrangetravel before the permit is valid;
and
That the permit is valid for 30 days, to accommodate potentialproblems, such as weather, customer request, vehicle issues, etc.
In response to these requests, and as follow-up to your phone call with Division staff on January 10, 2024, the Division provides the following information:
Emergency permits can be issued at any time by calling 801-536-0200 during business hours and 801536-4123 after-hours. Once a project is scheduled and Clean Harbors Environmental Services
(CHES) has the required information, including the location, type, and amount of all material for which treatment is requested, a permit can be issued orally and followed by the written
request.
The Division will allow the issuance of emergency permits which are valid for two weeks from the treatment date, to account for potential delays.
