Good morning, Paul,
Thank you for reviewing these. Below are my replies to your comments in red, and I have attached our
plans with a revised sheet G4. Please let me know if you have any additional comments.
Thank you, Paul!

Paul,
Yes, I have reviewed the plans. There are a couple of items that need to be included in the plans that are missing.
1. There needs to be a standard trench detail that shows minimum burial depth and that describes the type of soil
material to be used in the pipe zone (within 1 foot of the pipe). For PVC pipe, this is 3/4" minus soil.
a. They standard trench detail is shown on A/D3, it’s tucked up in the top right corner of the page. We are
specifying imported ¾” minus pipe bedding with <15% -200.
2. The plans did not outline the pressure testing and disinfection requirements. These can be found in R309-550, the
DDW Administrative Rules for design and construction of water lines.
a. Thank you for catching this since it’s normally in our specifications. I did add notes 13-15 to the Water Notes
section on sheet G4. The notes specify pressure testing per AWWA C605 and disinfection/testing per
AWWA C651 prior to placing the pipeline into service.

Having said that, I know your plans said that the construction of the water lines needs to adhere to Parowan City's
construction standards. Since Parowan does not have approved water line standards (details and specifications) that
have been submitted to DDW, we don't know if their standards meet DDW requirements. So, that is why we need those
items above included in the plans so we can be sure they do.
It is my understanding that Parowan is working on developing their own construction design standards but
that for now they’ve adopted Cedar City’s engineering standards. Cedar City’s standards do require
pressure and disinfection testing.
