Excess Emissions / Kiln 4 Scrubber - January !6,2025, this was due to scrubber
corrective maintenance which started at 8:30 am and ended at 2:15 pm on this
date. Corrective maintenance was continued on January t7 ,2025, beginning at
9:40 am and completed at 10:20 am. The exhaust air was not routed through
the wet scrubber during this event, the kiln was slowed down during these
periods to minimize emissions from this unit. The reason behind these
deviations was due to a water leak identified during a visual inspection of the
scrubber system. Maintenance was performed where parts of the duct were
removed and cleared out of soda ash build up, replacing a damaged seal. The
unit was shut down on the 17th as there was still a water leak observed, where it
was found to have been due to the seal not being properly seated after
installation. This was corrected and the water leak was eliminated.
