Powers: 377 WEST F|RST SOUTH, SALT LAKE C!TY, UTAH 84101 .TELEPHONE (801)532-s363 29 Muy, L996 Dear 1. ffiffi#ffi'#\/ffiffi I am writing to let you know what Artistic Printing Company has done to come into compliance with the items that were noted on the Compliance Evaluation Form dated April 5, 1996. Is the waste film hazardous and where does it go. First, although the waste film does contain silver, so long as the silver is in a solid state, as it is in the waste film, it is not hazardous. In addition, we are in the process of finding a silver recycler to handle the disposal of the waste film that can no longer be used in our business. 2. Use EPA ID # on all manifests. We have only had one shipment of hazardous waste leave our facility since you visited and have used the EPA ID # we were issued. (Enclosed is a copy of manifest #160575.) 3. Label all the hazardous waste containers. All original barels which contain hazardous material and all waste ink containers and used rag containers have been properly labeled with signs reading "DANGER - HAZARDOUS WASTE" and accumulation dates. In addition, we have instructed all employees who have contact with or responsibility for handling or using any hazardous material as to proper handling and emergency procedures. 4. Close all containers with hazardous waste. All open waste raglsolvent containers have been enclosed in metal containers with lids which are only opened to add additional rags and then closed again. [n addition, these containers have been labeled "hazardous material." 5. Hazardous waste drum should have secondary containment. The barrel into which hazardous waste material is stored for future disposal has been contained by a plastic tub for secondary containment. f,rristic Printing Gompany Make arrangements with local fire, police, and hospitals. We have contacted the [oca[ fre, police, and hospital (LDS Hospital) by letters dated 16 April, 1996. We have received responses from the fire department and LDS Hospital. (Enclosed are copies of the letters mailed to these agencies and hospital.) In addition, all telephones within the facility have been labeled with emergency phone numbers. Obtain LDR certification for manifest #32157 from Safety Kleen. Manifest #32157 contained only an empty container and therefore is not required to have LDR certification. This addresses all the items that were noted during the April 5, 1996 inspection. If there are any further questions, please contact either Richard Bengtzen or Lara Wright at 532-5363. 6. 7.
