Dear Mr. Gilgen,
In response to DAQC-021-25 sent on January 14, 2025, concerning exceedance of the particulate matter
concentration limits during the stack test for Intrepid Potash Wendover facility, DAQE-AN107420014-19,
Venturi. Intrepid Potash will complete the following maintenance items and verification prior to the
next stack test.
All calibrations on the equipment will be verified to include differential pressure, water
injection, flow rate monitoring, and thermocouples.
Verify all burner automation.
Verify all calculations that are being applied are as per DAQE-AN107420014-19
Upon completing the above items, a stack tests will be scheduled for March 5-7, 2025. Since this is a
weeklong period. I will submit a schedule in early February 2025 with the details, thus if a technician
would like to attend, they could plan to witness the stack tests. The plant is currently not operating, this
outage was scheduled in the annual planning. It is our understanding that an additional protocol for this
test is not required, therefore, the existing protocol issued will be followed. The test will be completed
by TETCO.
In my previous communication I noted a change in the process at the facility. That was not correct. Upon
further investigation, the higher concentration of KCL in the ponds was due to the excessive evaporation
rate witnessed in October 2024, which was the effect of warm temperatures during that month.
