Under the Clean Water Act, DWQ compiles all existing and readily available data every two years and assesses the quality of the surface waters to identify waterbodies that are not meeting water quality standards. These standards support the designated beneficial uses that protect water quality for drinking water, recreation, aquatic life, agriculture and Great Salt Lake. The Integrated Report is submitted every two years for Environmental Protection Agency approval and includes the 305(b) assessment report and the 303(d) list of impaired waters. The Assessment Methodology guides how DWQ performs water quality assessments. To assist DWQ in making assessment decisions we are soliciting comments on the draft 2026 Integrated Report 303(d) Assessment Methods. PUBLIC COMMENTS The 30-day public comment period for the Draft 2026 IR Assessment Methods will begin on January 21, 2025 and end on February 20, 2025. All comments must be submitted using the Public Comments Submission Form.
