Ground Water Discharge Permit-By-Rule Renewal Request

Dear Campbell,
The Utah DEQ issued a Ground Water Discharge Permit-By-Rule on December 23, 2019,
to Cal-Maine Foods, Inc. for their waste water lagoon constructed as part of their Delta
Egg Farm expansion (original letter is included with this submittal). Included in that letter
is a statement regarding renewal of this permit and is restated below:
This permit-by-rule determination is effective for a period of 5 years from the date
of this letter. Prior to the end of this 5-year period, Cal-Maine Foods shall submit
to DWQ a summary of the laboratory analytical results from each of the annual
waste water samples collected from the lagoon and a request to renew the
permit-by-rule status by providing verification or affirmation that site conditions
have not changed.
Included with this submittal are annual wastewater laboratory results from the waste
water lagoon. Construction of the lagoon was completed in October 2021 and the first
samples were collected shortly thereafter (2021). Annual samples were collected in
2023 and 2024; samples were not collected in 2022 inadvertently. Additionally, site
conditions have not changed relative to the permitted waste water lagoon and its
operating conditions.
Based on the information presented in this submittal, we request, on behalf of Cal-
Maine Foods, Inc., that this Permit-By-Rule be extended for another five-year term.
