After reviewing this information, the DERR project manager has recommended further investigation to determine the full extent of subsurface contamination. During petroleum storage tank (PST) investigation activities on October 26, 2023, soil samples indicated TPH-DRO concentrations above State-established applicable standards. On October 26, 2023, GP-9 contained 7770 ppm TPH-DRO, additional soil samples should be collected south and west of GP-9 to accurately define the release. Furthermore, samples should be collected near GP-1 and GP-3 at depths of 8 to 10 feet below the ground surface to determine if petroleum concentrations have changed since samples were collected on June 22, 2023. All sample locations, including previous samples, must be documented on a map. This map must have accurately labeled underground utilities, all previous sample locations, a scale, and all buildings or structures. The Division Director requires that additional samples be collected to determine the full extent and degree of petroleum-contaminated soils. All environmental samples must be collected by a Utah-certified groundwater and soil sampler following sampling protocol outlined in Utah Admin. Code R311-205. The report associated with these requirements must be submitted to our office within 90 days of receiving this letter. Environmental samples must be analyzed for gasoline and diesel using the methods indicated in the enclosed Table of Analytical Methods for Sampling.
