To become familiar with the Former Small Arms site. 2. To inspect the area for evidence of trespass, erosion, and observe the current state of fencing/signage around the site. General Observations: • The fence line around the perimeter of the repository is fully in-tact. • Vegetation around the repository is mature and well established. • The signage is generally in good condition. 3 access signs had fallen from the fence and 1 access sign is faded beyond legibility. • The previous access road at the intersection of Route 121 is gone completely. Access to the site is through the gravel pit. • There are no visible signs of significant erosion. • There were no areas of standing water. • On the public land surrounding the repository, there is evidence of cattle/grazing. • No animal burrows observed. • There were no large plants with deep roots/no potential for roots to penetrate the lead repository. Specific observations: • There are several large mounds of dirt that have been piled on the toe of the repository. • Dirt mounds from the lessee are piled against the fence line. • Desert crust has begun to form around the area that was formerly used as the firing range.
