I plan to be involved with you, and our Fire Chief, Joey Mittleman as the VCP inspection at Station 81 is conducted this year. Please let me know when you have some time available for the visit and we will schedule the inspection. I look forward to meeting you, Phil Markham Director | Community and Economic Development Murray City Corporation 10 East 4800 South | Murray | UT | 84107 Phone: (801) 270-2427 From: Leigh Anderson <kanderson@utah.gov> Sent: Thursday, August 8, 2024 3:11 PM To: Zachary Smallwood <zsmallwood@murray.utah.gov> Subject: [EXTERNAL]Re: [EXTERNAL]Murray UTA Lots/Firestation Annual Site Inspection Hello, so the Murray Firestation was a site formeraly known as Murray UTA Lots under a program that we call the Voluntary Cleanup Program. There were a number of smelters that used to operate in the city of Murray, and fallout from those shelters resulted in the spread of metals material into soils in locations around Murray city. The fire station property had both some of this metals contamination, as well as some petroleum contamination coming onsite from the east to north east. The site inspection is part of managing some of the materials that were left in place during the redevelopment of the property. What's usually involved is we would give notice to the fire chief that we'll need access to the fire station building, and then once we schedule a day and time to be out there, we look at the parking area, landscaping, and around the retention basin to ensure the cap at the site is intact. Then after we've checked the cap, we go into the building and head to the roof to check the roof vents where the vapor mitigation system for the petroleum plume reroutes potential gas away from the interior of the building. 1/5/25, 11:46 AM State of Utah Mail - VCP Inspection at Murray Fire Station 81 https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/?ik=5be3741f93&view=pt&search=all&permthid=thread-f:1807294708575838956&simpl=msg-f:180729470857583895…1/3 I include a copy of the approved site management plan, this goes into a little more detail. I also include a site inspection checklist I put together (the original form for whatever reason used to print too lightly, and so I handwrote some of the details and scanned it back in).
