INCIDENT SUMMARY
While accepting a load of jet fuel into an above-ground storage tank, the tank overflowed and caused a spill of Jet A fuel onto the cement pad and rocks
surrounding the pad. The spill was initially thought to be only 50 gallons, however after reviewing inventory, it is estimated that approximately 300
gallons were released. The caller states that the spill was due to equipment failure of the shut off gauge on the tank and operator error. Absorbent was
used for immediate clean-up. At 7 am tomorrow (12/19), excavation of soils is scheduled. The extent of the spill is still unknown. The tanks are near
stagnant water/wetlands at the airport. Spill was reported to NRC- Incident Report # 1419312.
