Dear Mr. Gurr:
The Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control (the ‘Division’) has receivedEnergySolutions’ request for approval to receive and reuse two pieces of equipment that areradiologically
contaminatedat the Clive Utah Facility (DRC-2024-005823; CD-2024-117).The two pieces of equipment being considered are currently at BWXT Nuclear Fuel Services in Erwin, Tennessee.
Having reviewed the Radiological Screening Evaluation of Equipment for Reuse at the EnergySolutions Clive Facility Report, Nuclear Fuel Services, Inc. WIMS Verification Report, and the
radiologicalcontamination surveys of the equipment being considered, the Division hereby grants approval to receive and use/reuse the equipment listed in your June 4, 2024request letter
(CD-2024-117) with the following condition:
Upon acceptance of shipment, the requested equipment shall be evaluated by Health Physics to determine if further decontamination is needed.
