Concern, SRS DU Storage Building (5/7/24)

Dear Mr. Hansen:

On May 7, 2024 the BAT inspector discovered the presence of water in the interior of the
SRS Depleted Uranium (DU) Storage Building. Water did not contact any waste
containers. The Clive Facility received 0.05 inches of measurable precipitation from the
morning of May 7, 2024.

EnergySolutions notified the Director of Waste Management and Radiation Control of
the concern via e-mail on May 8, 2024. This letter provides the required 7-day written
notification.

The BAT inspector removed the water on the same day as the inspection by wiping the
water from the protective plastic. EnergySolutions has replaced the weather strip of the
rollup doors running vertically on each side, the bottom seals and replaced bad rollers on
the bottoms of the doors. As discussed during the Priorities Meeting on May 9 th,
EnergySolutions has continued to be in contact with our roofing contractor on ideas of
how to prevent future leaks.
