Dear Mr. Gurr: The Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control (the Division) has received your request for approval of Waste Stream 0712-03 for management at your Mixed Waste Facility. The request for approval of this waste stream was received by the Division in EnergySolutions’ letter CD-2024-118. Waste Stream 0712-03 consists of waste aerosol cans. The aerosol cans are primarily empty but residual liquids (up to 20%) remain within the cans. The waste will carry D001 (Ignitability), D002 (Corrosivity), and D003 (Reactivity) hazardous waste codes. EnergySolutions will add chemical reagents to deactivate/neutralize the hazardous waste codes and solidify the waste matrix, then will dispose of the residual treated waste in the Mixed Waste Landfill Cell.Your CD-2024-118 letter includes the completed Radioactive Waste Profile Record and confirms waste stream0712-03 to be within Class A limits as defined by Utah Rule R313-15-1009. The Licensee may receive and manage the above waste stream provided the waste is received, treated and disposed in accordance with your RCRA Part B Permit and Radioactive Material License UT 2300249.If you have any questions regarding this letter, please contact Kevin Carney at (385) 622-2267.
