Houston Sigurd Town PO Box 570064 Sigurd, Utah 84657 Subject:Updated Drinking Water Source Protection Plans Required for Ross Canyon Spring, Ross Canyon Spring (Lower), Inspiration Spring, North Spring, Willow Spring, and Carter Spring; Sigurd Town; Water System #21016, Source Numbers WS001, WS003, and WS005-WS008 Dear Vickie B. Houston: The Division of Drinking Water (the Division) has not received updated Drinking Water Source Protection (DWSP) plans for the Ross Canyon Spring, Ross Canyon Spring (Lower), Inspiration Spring, North Spring, Willow Spring, and Carter Spring, which were due by December 31, 2023. Guidance for preparing an updated plan can be obtained from the Division website at https://deq.utah.gov/drinking-water/preparing-source-protection-plans, or you may contact Deidre Beck, of this office, at (385) 271-7046 or via email at dbeck@utah.gov, to request a copy of the guidance. Updated DWSP plans must document the implementation of land management strategies in the recordkeeping section. Actual copies of any ordinances, codes, permits, memoranda of understanding, public education programs, bill stuffers, newsletters, training session agendas, minutes of meetings, memoranda for file, etc. must be submitted with the recordkeeping section of your updated plans. Lack of plan implementation may result in the assessment of significant deficiencies. Dormant deficiencies (SP04 ACTIVE SOURCE LACKS APPROVED UPDATES TO DWSP) have been added to the Division’s database to serve as a tracking tool and reminder. Failure to correct these deficiencies by the required due date (90 days from the date of this letter) will result in 30 Improvement Priority System (IPS) points being assigned (5 points per source). If you have any questions about these points, please contact Jennifer Yee at (385) 515-1501 or ddwips@utah.gov. Please contact Deidre Beck, P.G., at (385) 271-7046 or via email at dbeck@utah.gov if you have questions. To help us serve you more efficiently, please use the water system number (21016) in your correspondence. Sincerely, Michael Newberry, P.E.
