Dear Mr. Brown:
The Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control has reviewed your Response to Water Supply Well,Well Identification Number (WIN) 9549, Solid Waste Management Unit (SWMU) 58 –
Trichloroethene (TCE) Plume (Response), Tooele Army Depot North Area (TEADN), dated May 21, 2024.
In the Response, the Army agreed that further evaluation of Supply Well WIN 9549 is required. The Response states that Well WIN 9549 is located on industrial property owned by Bolinder
Resources, LLC and is within SWMU 58 Northeast Boundary Plume. The Response also states that the office building at this location has been connected to the public water system for the
past 12-15 years. Well WIN 9549 is only used to fill water trucks used for dust control activities.
In response to the April 24, 2024, request letter sent to TEADN from the Division, the Army has obtained a Right of Entry to conduct water sampling at the well. The Army has coordinated
with the well owner to sample the well on May 22-23, 2024. Samples will be analyzed for volatile organic compounds by EPA Method 8260. The well will either be sampled while in operation
or purged for 20 minutes prior to sample collection to verify the water is from the aquifer.
The Response is hereby approved.
