It appears that there are septic systems within the protection zones for both of these sources. Since these septic systems are considered uncontrolled potential contamination sources (PCS), the water system agreed to manage these hazards by distributing public education on septic. The annual DWQ reports that were included in the update did not provide any language regarding septic. Can you confirm if septic owners with the protection zones have been receiving any additional educational material? I will need a copy of the material distributed before I can concur. This material needs to target septic owners and inform them of best management practices and the hazards they pose to drinking water. If public education has not been distributed, please implement this as soon as possible and respond to this email with what was distributed. Implementation can be completed by including proper language on septic in the CCR, including factsheets (attached) in a bill stuffer, or by distributing a link which takes readers to information on septic. The DDW expects systems to implement their strategies at least once every update cycle (six years). I can provide 90 days to receive this information before a formal disapproval letter is drafted. Let me know if there are any questions. I will need to see a generic copy of the December bill with a link to the webpage. The webpage must include best management practice info on septic systems. Including general source protection information is also recommended. I emailed all of our users. Thank you Maegan [Quoted text hidden] -- Business Manager Diamond Valley Acres Water Company 435.268.1110 Ext. 81 - Email - Website Noah Zorsky <nzorsky@utah.gov>Mon, Dec 30, 2024 at 1:18 PM To: Diamond Valley Acres Water Company <dvawc1@gmail.com> Looks great. No further action is needed; sending out best management practice info on septic is the only management strategy Diamond Valley Acres' DWSP plan requires. You can expect a formal concurrence email in the next few weeks. Be aware that management strategies need to be completed at least once every update cycle and documented in each updated DWSP plan. Have a happy New Years!
