Purpose of Site Visit: Impacted Soil Excavation Oversight Observations: DERR arrived on-site and met with Nancy and Sarah from Terracon. Reynolds Excavating is the contractor on site. Reynolds will be excavating the impacted soil and is 40-hour HAZWOPER trained. Once Impacted soil is removed Salt Lake Excavating will take over to move material that meets the unrestricted use criteria. DERR observed a pipe that was next to the fencing by Indiana Ave. There was a coating on the pipe. When Sarah (the on-site ACM inspector) inspected the pipe, she determined that a sample should be taken. Terracon collected a sample and secured the suspect pipe in a safe location. Excavations are being done one at a time based on the RAP. Confirmation samples were collected at the side walls and floor as per the RAP. In some locations field staff directed the excavator to remove additional material based on field observations before collecting a sample. Reynolds is running three standard size dump & pup trucks. The trucks are tarp covered prior to departing the site. Trucks are inspected and cleaned as needed prior to pulling off-site. No track out observed on either day. Excavation activities are not creating excessive dust. No dust or odors observed leaving the site. If conditions change the EP will implement corrective measures as needed. Numerous tires have been observed on the east side near the Alvie-Carder Trust property. Tires are not permitted to be sent to the SL Co landfill and are being staged for later disposal. On 1/11/23 DERR collected a split sample from the TP-37 Floor. All sampling is being performed per the RAP. No issues observed. Split sample hand delivered to Chemtech Ford by DERR with a standard TAT. Terracon samples sent to Pace for a 48-hour TAT.
