HomeMy WebLinkAboutDWQ-2024-008968 December 23, 2024 To: Daniel Griffin Utah Division of Water Quality 195 N 1950 W, SLC, UT 84116 (801) 536-4387 Subject: Nebo Power Plant Annual Report on TDS Dear Daniel, This letter is the annual report required in the Nebo Power Plant discharge permit UT0025518. Each year UAMPS is required in the permit to submit a report on its progress towards the final TDS limit in the permit that is required to be met by January 1, 2028. The ”Interim Limits” the Nebo Power Plant is currently required to meet is higher than the final limit for the permit due to receiving tertiary water from the Payson Wastewater Treatment Plant (Payson WWTP). The Payson WWTP is currently undergoing upgrades / construction in efforts to meet new requirements set forth by the state of Utah. While Payson Wastewater Treatment Plant is undergoing upgrades / construction,. the facility has swings and unreliable discharge levels that will affect Nebo Power Plant’s discharge directly. In efforts for meeting TDS discharge limits, the Nebo Power Plant is limiting its cycles / turns in the cooling systems that the plant uses from the wastewater treatment plant, which results in lower concentration of TDS and other discharge items. Also, the Nebo Power Plant continues to monitor incoming water from the wastewater facility adjusting blowdown rates and using the city’s culinary water system to help supplement during extreme upset conditions. Data: November 1 – December 12, 2024 TDS Daily Max: 2770 TDS Average: 2020 Sincerely, Eric Hutchinson Compliance Specialist eric@uamps.com (801)707-0255
