System Number:UTAH03015 The City of North Logan owns and operates the Green Canyon Water Treatment
Plant (GCWTP) which is located at the mouth of Green Canyon. The WTP was
constructed in 1986 and has a design treatment rate of two million gallons per day
(mgd). The plant has had minimal upgrades since it was constructed, and it does not
meet the current design standards of the Utah Division of Drinking Water (DDW) for
redundancy and disinfectant contact time.
In the fall of 2022, Hazen and Sawyer completed a study of the treatment plant and
recommended several options to help improve the contact time and disinfection
performance. The final recommendation and the option selected as the most
appropriate option by the City in coordination
with State regulators was to construct a new disinfection contact basin (DCB). The
new DCB will be designed with sufficient time to develop the full disinfection contact
time required to meet the disinfection requirement. This current project will take the
concept that was developed as part of the 2022 study and progress it to a complete
set of plans and specifications for the construction of a new DCB.
