HomeMy WebLinkAboutDERR-2024-007868The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Utah Department of Environmental Quality (UDEQ) are proposing a clarification to the The Kennecott South Zone Cleanup Remedy EPA and UDEQ are proposing a clarification to the remedy for Operable Unit 2, Southwest Jordan River Valley Groundwater Plumes, of the Kennecott South Zone site. The clarification is called an Explanation of Significant Differences (ESD). EPA and UDEQ issued a joint Record of Decision (ROD) for this OU in December 2000. The ROD was subsequently clarified by an ESD in August 2003. This pending ESD is the second for this ROD. This ESD does not substantively alter the remedy selected by the agencies. It clarifies the selected remed y to enhance water management options, source controls and strengthens performance standards. EPA and UDEQ are providing a 30 day public review period for the pending ESD. The public may submit comments on the ESD until December 8, 2006. Extension of the review period will not be granted.
