RE: Zones 7 & 8 Storage Tank Soil Management Plan for the City of South Jordan
Located in South Jordan, Salt Lake County, Utah
Dear Mr. Stephenson:
The Division of Environmental Response and Remediation (DERR) received the document
entitled, Zones 7 & 8 Storage Tank Soil Management Work Plan, dated September 2023. This
document details a new storage tank for the expansion of the Daybreak Development within
Pressure Zones 7 and 8. The new 8.4 million-gallon tank will be located near the intersection of
U-111 and 11800 South. The drinking water storage tank site will also include an access road,
electric utilities, an emergency overflow and drain, a valve vault, and a 36-inch diameter connection
to the 36-inch diameter transmission line to be constructed under a separate soil management plan.
The storage tank site is within the Kennecott South Zone with proximity to Operable Unit (OU) 2,
OU6, and OU25. Based on review of the Soil Management Plan, this document has been accepted
by the DERR.
Thank you for your submission to the DERR. If you have any questions, please contact me
at (385) 391-8129.
Sincerely,
Mazie J. Cox, Project Manager
