Shelley Executive Director DIVISION OF DRINKING WATER Nathan Lunstad, Ph.D., P.E. Director December 23, 2024 Michael White Brigham City Water System PO BOX 1005 Brigham City, UT 84302 Subject: Notice of Increased Monitoring for Brigham City Water System, UTAH02004 Michael White: According to the Division of Drinking Water’s (the Division) records, an operating permit was recently issued for the Bunderson Spring (identified as WS023). Issuance of this Operating Permit changes the water system’s monitoring and reporting requirements. It is the Divisions understanding that the Bunderson Spring (WS023) combines in a common transmission line with ten other springs in the area prior to the first service connection. Brigham City fulfils the source monitoring requirements for these springs by collecting samples from a tap identified as SAMPLING STATION - 01-07, 10 12 17 23 (SS979). To fulfil the initial monitoring requirements for the Bunderson Spring (WS023), the monitoring frequencies for radionuclides, pesticides, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) have been increased to the baseline frequencies described in R309-205 at the SAMPLING STATION - 01-07, 10 12 17 23 (SS979). Sample schedules may be reduced once the initial monitoring requirements for the Bunderson Spring have been fulfilled. Due to a transmission line project, the springs represented in SAMPLING STATION - 01-07, 10 12 17 23 (SS979) will be inactive until April 2025. Afterwards the springs will supply water to the distribution system from April 2025 through October 2025. In November 2025 the springs will be tuned out of the system to allow for completion of the transmission line project. Beginning in April 2026, the springs are planned to function as a year-round water supply. The updated monitoring requirements for the springs (SS979) are provided below and are available to view anytime on waterlink.utah.gov under the water monitoring section. The monitoring requirements will take effect in April 2025 and shall be fulfilled during all quarters in Michael White Page 2 of 2 December 23, 2024 which the springs (SS979) supply water to the distribution system. Samples are not required during periods of inactivity.
