The Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control (Division) has completed its review of the revised Big West Oil North Salt Lake Refinery (Site), SWMU 38 light non-aqueous phase
liquid (LNAPL) Abatement Interim Work Plan (Work Plan) submitted on November 21, 2024, by Barr Engineering Co. (Barr) on behalf of Big West Oil, LLC (BWO).
The initial Big West Oil North Salt Lake Refinery, SWMU 38 LNAPL Abatement Interim Work Plan was submitted on October 22, 2024, outlining the proposed efforts to evaluate groundwater,
hydrological conditions, and to assess the reduction in LNAPL at SWMU 38 observed during the second quarter 2024. On November 12, 2024, the Division submitted comments that were adequately
addressed in the revised Work Plan.
Please notify the Division no less than 1 week prior to any groundwater sampling field event. The Division has no additional comments or questions concerning the Work Plan. The Work
Plan is hereby approved.
