Tank 13 was installed in 1993 and closed in place with a cement slurry on December 17,2020. Soil samples taken at the time of tank closure indicated a release from the product piping.SS-3 contained several petroleum constituents above Initial Screening Levels (ISLs).Westech performed a subsurface investigation in July 2021 and SS-3 remained the only location sampled with contamination above state established cleanup levels. Tank 12 was a 3,000-gallon diesel fuel fiberglass UST originally installed in 1988.This tank was temporarily closed on April 28,2021.Fuel was removed to below 1-inch of remaining product, and the product lines were capped and secured,as were pumps and manways.No additional abatement was performed at the time of temporary closure of Tank 12 and no environmental sampling was performed. A Corrective Action Plan was developed and approved by the DERR on March 14,2023,to remove Tank 12,Tank 13,and the contaminated soil;work began on May 15,2023.Excavation of contaminated soil reached a depth of 20 feet below the ground surface (bgs).307 tons of contaminated soil were disposed of at ET SRS.Confirmation samples were taken on May 24, 2023 with all samples being non-detect for all analytes.The excavation was backfilled with clean materials and resurfaced with asphalt. Groundwater is estimated to be 175 feet bgs and therefore was not encountered.There are no water rights within a critical distance but Red Butte Creek is 400 feet away from the site.It is not in a groundwater protection zone but is 300 feet from a Zone 4.
