SUBJECT: No Further Action, Leaking Underground Storage Tank Release

A petroleum release was reported to the Division of Environmental Response and Remediation in
2016 based off of a Phase II investigation. The extent and degree of the contaminati on have been fully
defined and a No Further Action (NFA) review is hereby requested.
Crus Oil Inc has been a bulk oil facility since 1928. The site is currently equipped with 30 ASTs
containing various grades of oil, waste oil, hydraulic fluid and transmission fluid. One oil/water
separator is located on the west side of the subject property. Storm drains are connected to the
separator. A release was reported in 2016 as part of a Phase II investigation. UST tanks and
contaminated soil were removed in 2017. Additional contamination was found and excavated in
four different areas in 2020. Excavation occurred down to 10 feet deep; after the excavation the
area was repaved. Soil vapor samples were taken sub slab. Most contamination was found under
MW-1, which is located in the center of the site under asphalt.
An Environmental Covenant has been signed for this release. It has been recorded at the Salt Lake
County Recorder’s Office.
