In accordance with Condition 12.e.i in Attachment II-1-10, Management of Waste Containing
Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) at the Mixed Waste Facility, of the state-issued Part B Permit,
EnergySolutions is required to notify the DWMRC of any PCB detections from soil monitoring events.
Attached is the laboratory analytical report from the second semi-annual soil sampling event in 2024
(collected on October 24, 2024). Summary tables of this data and of all historical data is also attached.
There were 4 stations that had detectable PCBs. A summary of these detections is as follows:
Station 26 (located NE of the MWOB) had a non-quantifiable PCB detections of Aroclor 1254. This
detection is slightly elevated, but similar to those seen at this location in previous years, the
contamination does not appear to be significantly increasing above previous years.
Station 28 (South of MW) had non-quantifiable PCB detections of Aroclors 1254 and 1260. These
detections are similar to those seen at this location in previous years, the contamination does not
appear to be increasing.
Station 73 (NE of Rotary Dump) had a non-quantifiable PCB detections of Aroclor 1254. This
detection is similar to those seen at this location in previous years, the contamination does not appear
to be increasing.
Station 77 (West of LLRW Ops Building) had a non-quantifiable PCB detections of Aroclor 1254.
This detection is similar to those seen at this location in previous years, the contamination does not
appear to be increasing.
Although slight PCB contamination is noted, the detections are all minimal; orders of magnitude below the
regulatory threshold level for PCB contamination (50 mg/kg). All stations will continue to be examined
closely in future events for trends, positive and negative. Further details will be reported in the annual report
that will be provided by March 31, 2025.
If you have any questions on this information, feel free to contact me.

Organics--Presumptive evidence based on mass spectral library search to make a tentative identification of the analyte (TIC). Quantitation is based
on nearest internal standard response factor
Analytical holding time was exceeded
Analyte is a surrogate compound
Result is less than value reported
Result is greater than value reported
Preparation or preservation holding time was exceeded
Sample results are rejected
RPD of sample and duplicate evaluated using +/-RL. Concentrations are <5X the RL. Qualifier Not Applicable for Radiochemistry.
Results are reported from a diluted aliquot of the sample
RPD or %Recovery limits do not apply.
Analyte concentration is not detected above the detection limit
Consult Case Narrative, Data Summary package, or Project Manager concerning this qualifier
Non Calibrated Compound
Compound cannot be extracted
One or more quality control criteria have not been met. Refer to the applicable narrative or DER.
See case narrative
QC Samples were not spiked with this compound
Presumptive evidence based on mass spectral library search to make a tentative identification of the analyte (TIC). Quantitation is based on nearest
internal standard response factor
See case narrative for an explanation
Analyte does not meet the Ion Abundance Ratio and should be considered an estimated concentration.

N/A indicates that spike recovery limits do not apply when sample concentration exceeds spike conc. by a factor of 4 or more or %RPD not applicable.
^ The Relative Percent Difference (RPD) obtained from the sample duplicate (DUP) is evaluated against the acceptance criteria when the sample is greater than
five times (5X) the contract required detection limit (RL). In cases where either the sample or duplicate value is less than 5X the RL, a control limit of +/- the
RL is used to evaluate the DUP result.
* Indicates that a Quality Control parameter was not within specifications.
For PS, PSD, and SDILT results, the values listed are the measured amounts, not final concentrations.
Where the analytical method has been performed under NELAP certification, the analysis has met all of the
requirements of the NELAC standard unless qualified on the QC Summary.

Technical Information
Preparation/Analytical Method Verification
Samples and the associated QC samples in this batch were cleaned using alumina in order to remove oil and other
high molecular weight interferences. All reported analyte detections in client and quality control samples were within
the established retention time windows. Reported analyte concentrations were confirmed on dissimilar columns.
Sample Dilutions
Samples 1205903634 (Non SDG 692088003MS) and 1205903635 (Non SDG 692088003MSD) were diluted due to
high concentrations of target analytes in the samples. Samples were diluted due to dark, thick sample extracts.
692268005 (24SA2 S-64 240.4 102424-05), 692268006 (24SA2 S-57 244.7 102424-06), 692268007 (24SA2 S-40

692268013 (24SA2 S-24 247.3 102424-13).
Miscellaneous Information

Samples (See Below) required manual integration to correctly position the baseline as set in the calibration standard
injections and to properly identify one or more peaks.
