Your willingness to accommodate this request is greatly appreciated. Observations: The initiation of this Level 2 (L2) assessment is prompted by the detection of multiple Total Coliform positive (TC+) results in routine samples, as well as repeated samples collected under the Revised Total Coliform Rule (RTCR) during August 2024. Wasatch Wing & Clay operates as a Transient Non-Community water system located in Utah County. The system consists of a well (WS001) and a 25,000-gallon wet well (PF001). During this L2 assessment, a review of the system's bacteriological sample reports revealed that while the well source is free of coliform bacteria, contamination occurs once the water passes through the wet well. Conclusions: A potential factor contributing for the presence of Total Coliforms (TC+) in the samples may be the underground reservoir because it lacks an access hatch for manual inspection and cleaning. Additionally, the well’s limited output of 9 to 12 gallons per minute (GPM) further complicates the process of adequately flushing the tank and removing biofilm from the reservoir’s interior. Recommendations: 1.Identify an appropriate method to separate the drinking water system from the fire suppression system that uses the underground tank. Jim proposed bypassing the tank by routing the well water directly to hydropneumatic tanks, which would directly supply the drinking water system bypassing the underground reservoir. This approach could be a Jim Smith Page 2 September 23, 2024 viable solution. This would require approval from the permitting section of the Division of Drinking Water (DDW). 2.Separate the drinking water system from the irrigation, bird pen water, and fire suppression system. One option is to install a plastic water tank inside the existing building to supply water to the clubhouse and bird cleaning station. This setup would significantly improve cleaning and maintenance to the current drinking water system. 3.Clean the three large expansion tanks due to the recent TC+ samples and the observed presence of biofilm in the system.
