SUMMARY: The purpose of this visit was to observe the installation of a vapor barrier for three
structures on the northern half of the site. The DERR met with Terracon and SLC on-site. A
Vapor Intrusion Mitigation System (VIMS) was being installed for three locations (units 221 &
222, 228 & 229, 204 & 203). Each location was at various stages of install allowing the DERR
and Terracon to observe the entire process. These locations are slab-on-grade with a 20 mil vapor
barrier. An insulated foam was placed on top of the gravel aggregate, followed by the vapor
barrier. All seams were sealed off with tape. They expect to finish with all three locations by
later this afternoon, in which Nancy Saunders will inspect and ultimately sign off. The contractor
will then cover the barriers (including the one for unit 212 installed on 11/22/24) with concrete,
which is scheduled for tomorrow.
When the DERR and Terracon arrived, the weather was about 35 degrees Fahrenheit. Crews
were waiting to finish some of the taping until it got a little warmer.
