RE:Withdrawal of Class 3 Modification to Convert Product Tank to Hazardous Waste UseUTD980957088
Dear Mr. Heal:
On January 11, 2024, Safety-Kleen submitted a response to an inquiry from the Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control (Division) regarding the status of the proposal to convert
an onsite product tank to hazardous waste service. On June 13, 2019, Safety-Kleen submitted a Class 3 modification request seeking approval to convert an existing product storage tank
located at the Pioneer Road facility to hazardous waste use as an additional waste solvent storage tank under the Safety-Kleen permit.
On March 2, 2020, the Division issued written authorization to Safety-Kleen allowing the facility to proceed with the necessary construction to accommodate the proposed changes. However,
due to impacts of the COVID pandemic, the authorized construction associated with the project was never initiated and the plans for the tank conversion were suspended. In the recently
received response from Safety-Kleenregarding the status of the proposal, Safety-Kleen indicated that the facility will not be pursuing further action/ultimate approval of the requested
tank conversion.
The Division appreciates this feedback and we have updated the necessary records to reflect that the Safety-Kleen Class 3 modification request to add additional tank storage capacity
at the facility through conversion of a product tank has been withdrawn.
If you have any questions, please call Boyd Swenson at (385) 499-4935.
Sincerely,
Douglas J. Hansen,Director
