RE:Temporary Variance Request for Augmented Decontamination Equipment Authorization for Rale Facility on Track No. 4 Report- Closeout Letter Ground Water Quality Discharge Permit No.
UGW450005
Dear Mr.Anderson:
On May 14, 2024, EnergySolutions provided a follow-up report (DRC-2024-005643, CD-2024-105) to the variance given to use a 40k pressure washer in the Rail Facility on Track No. 4. In
this report EnergySolutions addressed the questions requested by the Director of Waste Management and Radiation Control (Director) after the variance for the pressure washer had ended.
In one response, EnergySolutions stated that they would repair an existing 40K pressure pump with the intent to use it at the Rail Facility at Track No. 4 and if not possible to repair,
“… a new 40K pressure washer purchase will be considered.” At the time of this letter, no modification request of drawing 9906-02A has been received by the Director. As such, the Director
is considering this issue closed. IfEnergySolutions determines to pursue this modification at a later datea new request for modification including an updated drawing of 9906-02A will
need to be submitted for Director approval prior to installation or use of the pressure washer.
If you have any questions, please contact Brandon Davis at 385-622-1873.
Sincerely,
Douglas J. Hansen, Director
Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control
