This inspection scrutinized the various aspects of the Clive Facility’s Radiation Protection Program as well as it’s adherence to the Waste Characterization Plan. Observations from the inspection were discussed at the closeout meeting which was held onsite with EnergySolutions staff. As part of this inspection, the activities conducted at EnergySolutions’ Clive facility were evaluated with respect to how they comply with Utah Radiation Control Rules, the license conditions in EnergySolutions Radioactive Material License, and Federal Regulations. Division Inspectors performed an examination of records, interviewed personnel, and made onsite observations. An observation not connected to the scope of this inspection was made on December 18, 2023, regarding observed Dry Active Waste (DAW). Division Inspectors identified numerous object/material that appears to be DAW outside of the Contaminated Restricted Area north of the Mix Waste Cell. The Division will follow up on these observations in a forthcoming letter. The Division considers this inspection closed. If you have any questions, please call Larry Kellum at (801) 536-0038.
