RE:Request for Repair
SecondQuarter 2024 (April to June) DMT Performance Standards Monitoring Report and
Cell 4A and 4B BAT Performance Standards Monitoring Report
Groundwater Discharge Permit UGW 370004
Radioactive Materials License UT 1900479, Amendment 10
Dear Ms. Weinel:
The Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control (Division) has reviewed the DMT Performance Standards Monitoring Report and Cell 4A and 4B BAT Performance Standards Monitoring
Report(Report)(DRC-2024-006458) for the second quarter of 2024, dated July 31, 2024, and received on August 6, 2024.
Over the past two years, the Division has observed deterioration of the hydrochloric acid secondary containment concrete, presumably due to the HCl eroding the surface layer. The Division
requests that EFR further evaluate the concrete and determine if repairs are necessary. EFR should also consider applying a protective coating to prevent further concrete damage.
The review of the Report will remain open until a response is received by the Division. If you have any questions, please call Heather Mickelson at (385) 499-4875.
Sincerely,
Adam Wingate, Uranium Mills Section Manager
Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control
