Dear Mr. Anderson:
In accordance with Part IV. A-C of the GWQDP, on July 18, 2024EnergySolutions submitted a request to remove the blind flange in Manhole 1 for the new ESRF pipeline 4B to complete testing
of the ESRF pump system and empty the ESRF sump of non-contact rainwater (CD-2024-149, DRC-2024-006265). After review, the Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control approves
this request provided the following conditions are met:
EnergySolutions shall remove water from the ESRF sump as described in the July 18, 2024 Removal Request.
After the pump test has been completed and water removed, the ESRF pipeline 4B in Manhole 1 and the pumps in the ESRF sump shall be locked out and tagged out until the Director has given
final approval for the ESRF to go into service.
