General Comments
Comments The purpose of the site visit to Bown Dairy, Inc. is to further understand its
composting operations, including origin of waste to create final products.
Bown Dairy, Inc. has been accepting waste from Utah Beef Producers, LLC
twice per week as part of their composting operations. Utah Beef
Producers, LLC hauled waste at 8:00 am, the day of the inspection. Bown
Dairy, Inc. informed the Division representative that they will work on a
permit application after deciding if the effort of accepting outside waste will
be beneficial to their current operation and will cease accepting outside
waste until they are permitted to do so. Bown Dairy, Inc. indicated to the
Division representative that historically they composted manure and are
unfamiliar with composting dead animals. Compost is not sold outside the
facility and the facility has signs visible from the road indicating that
compost is not for sale.
