Soil excavation work occurred, about 181 cubic yards, including test pit soil, and soil confirmation samples are <ISL. Groundwater sampled at the UST excavation, GW-1, had sampling results with TPH-DRO less than Tier I, and other chemicals of concern <ISL. Groundwater explorations with test pits showed that GW impacts are < ISL standard surrounding the orphan UST, see TP-1,2,4,5,6,9 and 10, while increasing levels of TPH-DRO exist north, about ¶of the orphan tank area, with TP-3, 7, and 8, exhibiting TPH-DRO contamination > Tier I standards. The area of high diesel contamination in groundwater once contained 4-USTs formerly closed in place (1998), but later removed in 2018. The 4-USTs had soil sampled for the DERR Closure Plan work, but no GW was sampled. DERR UST staff did issue a UST letter declaring no corrective action was needed at that time, Jan. 7, 1999. I recommend No Further Action for the orphan UST site and to pursue GW impact investigations with a new Release ID for the former 4-USTs nearby. Recommendation - No further action. Tier 1 criteria (contaminant concentration and/or distance to receptors) are exceeded at the site.
