RE: Request to Revise the Groundwater Quality Assurance Plan
Utah Groundwater Discharge Permit No. UGW370004
Dear Ms. Weinel:
The Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control has completed its review of the July 23,
2018 Request to Revise Groundwater Quality Assurance Plan (QAP). Specifically, the request is to
have EPA Method 903.0 included in the QAP Table 1 (QAP page 23) as an option for measurement of
gross alpha in groundwater samples.
The request includes a cover letter, a redline copy of revised Table 1 of Revised QAP Revision 7.4
(pages 22, 23 and 24) and a clean copy of the same pages with the change. It was noted that a full copy
of the QAP Revision 7.4 was not provided with the request. The Division has requested that EFR
provide a full clean version of the revised QAP electronically.
The Division verified that Method 903.0 is approved by EPA for gross alpha radioactivity and that the
method appears appropriate for groundwater compliance monitoring. Therefore, the request to include
Method 903.0 as an option for gross alpha analysis is approved. No additional changes were requested.
If you have any questions, please call Tom Rushing at (801) 536-0080.
Sincerely,
Scott T. Anderson, Director Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control
