Director October 1, 2024 Parley Steven Pentz Croydon Pipeline Corporation 1885 N 6800 E Croydon, UT 84018 Subject: Notice of Confirmation Sampling Requirements for Croydon Pipeline Corporation, UTAH15001 Parley Steven Pentz: According to the Division of Drinking Water’s (the Division) records, a turbidity sample was collected from the Hill Top Well #1 (identified as WS005) on August 27, 2024. The results of the analysis show that turbidity was found at levels of 17 NTU. This is above the turbidity maximum contaminant level (MCL) of 5 NTU. This result triggers a confirmation sampling requirement at the Hill Top Well #1 (WS005). Confirmation Turbidity Sampling at Hill Top Well #1 Pursuant to Utah Administrative Code (UAC) R309-205-8(2), please collect 4 additional turbidity samples from the Hill Top Well #1 (WS005) by October 24, 2024. The intent of this requirement is to capture turbidity readings over a 30-day period. For the most accurate results, please space out turbidity sampling so that one sample is collected per week. Please label samples as collected from facility and sampling point ID WS005 on all laboratory paperwork and send the results directly to dbkruse@utah.gov when they are available. Elevated turbidity levels can be due to iron and manganese present in source groundwater. Although not required, the Division recommends that Croydon Pipeline Company collect iron and manganese samples concurrently with the 4 confirmation turbidity samples. In the event that the manganese samples show concentrations above certain levels, Croydon Pipeline Company can apply for available funding to install manganese treatment. Please contact Sarah Romero at sarahromero@utah.gov or (801)-896-8255 with questions regarding funding opportunities.
