Subject: Notice of Increased Monitoring for Kingston Town Water System, UTAH16004
Bill Sudweeks: According to the Division of Drinking Water’s (the Division) records, the sampling station identified as “Sampling Station Arsenic Blending” (listed as TP001 in the Divisions database) detected arsenic at levels of 0.0106 mg/L on August 8, 2024. The Maximum Contaminant Level
(MCL) for arsenic is 0.010 mg/L. As a result of this, this source is now subject to increased arsenic monitoring in accordance with R309-205-5(1)(g) and R309-205-5(3)(g). The sampling location which represents both of the town’s sources of drinking water, Sampling Station Arsenic Blending (TP001), is now required to be sampled each quarter for arsenic.
Compliance with the arsenic standard will be based off the running annual average (RAA). This means that if the RAA for arsenic is greater than 0.010 mg/L after one year of quarterly sampling, the system will be considered in violation of the arsenic standard and public notice will be required.
The current monitoring requirements for the Sampling Station Arsenic Blending (TP001) are
given below. An updated monitoring schedule can be viewed anytime online at waterlink.utah.gov. Facility with new requirements Analyte(s) Required # Of samples Sampling Frequency Next Due Date Rule Reference
