Karl,
Just a couple of quick notes and comments from the photos and my quick observation of the plans:
1) The overflow appears to be too far from the ground. It should terminate from 12 to 24 inches from the ground and have
a #4 screen on the end to avoid possibly eroding the foundation area.
2) I need to know that this tank is an ANSI/NSF 61 approved tank.
3) Because it is outside, it will need to be a hatch with a shoebox lid, gasketed, raised up a minimum of 4 inches above
the roof of the tank and locakable. I have attached examples of some that have been custom manufactured for these
kinds of tanks. You may even consider doing this for your existing 5,000 and 500 gallon tanks so that the exception does
not continue to have to be renewed every three years.
4) The air vent discharge appears to sit only about 1 inch above the tank roof, this should be raised up to avoid potential
blockage of the air vent.
5) All the piping needs to be buried, except for right at the tank inlet and outlet locations. Piping that is exposed to UV and
other hazards (rock fall, weather, animals, etc) is not sanitary. These pipelines would have to have been submitted for
approval for construction along with the tank drawings and approval would not have been issued without proper burial and
trench details.
6) There are no details for the booster pump station. I need to see a design drawing and details about how it is
connected, showing correct pressure gauges on either side of the pump (inlet side of pump has to have a compound
gauge measure positive and negative pressure, discharge side has to have a standard gauge. Basically following Rule
R309-540.
7) The booster pump enclosure has to be shown to be raised up off the ground and at a location where it has a proper
drain (in the building or enclosure) and protected from flooding.
8) I need a pump curve or details on pumping rate (gpm) and hp rating of the pump. Also, be aware that the current rule
does not require redundant pumps for this situation, transferring water from one location to another, but the new rule
coming out very soon will require the installation of two pumps (one as a redundant pump) for all booster pump station.
You may want to consider this in the revised design.
As you can see, I have several comments, which would have been addressed and revised before construction if plans
had been submitted ahead of time. Plans that are submitted to me should address all of these changes so that plan
approval can be issued. After that, the modifications will have to be made before an operating permit can be issued.
Let me know if you have questions.

Jeff and Karl,
I have reviewed the plans that you sent me and I have a couple of questions and comments:
1) Have the new hatches already been installed? The hatch seems to meet the DDW requirements, but if they haven't
been installed yet, then the letter I produce will be a plan approval so you can go ahead and get the hatches installed.
2) Has the water line that you describe in the exception request with the steel pipe or the casing been installled, or is it
just a poly pipe right now? Again, if you are waiting for plan approval and the exception approval first, I just need to know
that.
3) The overflow discharge for the 550 gallon tank appears to discharge right at the base of the tank. This could erode the
foundation around the tank if it discharges. You should include a splash pad of some sort to prevent this from
happening. Also, the screen for an overflow only needs to be a #4 mesh screen, #14 is typically for air vents.
4) The booster pump is required to have a pressure gauge on the suction side as well, with the ability to measure
negative pressure (a compound gauge).
Let me know if you have questions.

I haven't had a chance to look at everything, it's probably going to be a few weeks. There are several projects ahead of
this one right now.
I will let you know once I have a chance to look at everything.
