Two items for your consideration…and we presume that this should not impact the scheduling of our upcoming site characterization (week of Nov. 11th): 1) GPR found no signs of any buried oil/water separator tank/system at the two 8-in. dia., steel manhole covers. Upon opening the two manholes w/a crowbar, I found a 4-in. dia. PVC pipe beneath each cover. Each PVC pipe was open and totally dry to completion depths of 8 feet below grade. It appears that the two pipes may be sewer cleanout access ports. We will drill the adjacent proposed soil test boring, as originally planned/proposed. 2) Per attached original PWP “Figure 5B”…and….attached “gpr-amended,” updated Figure 5B: (2A) We are going to have to move one (1) proposed soil test boring (eastern-most subsurface soil gas boring) several feet east of the originally-proposed location, due to too many utilities in the vicinity of the original location. (2B) Likewise, we must relocate two (2) proposed well locations: Originally, we had proposed one well within each of the two different landscaped areas located near the SE and E sides of the property. However, we cannot drill in either of the two landscaped areas along the SE and E side of the property…….waaay too many utilities at/near the road….and….a drill rig will not be able to access either landscaped island area because the areas are bermed too high and covered by large boulders/cobbles. A comparative analysis of the 2 attached figures identifies where I propose relocating the 2 wells….basically, moving them each about 50 feet or so from each original location. I believe that the relocations will actually better satisfy our needs for appropriate spacing for determining groundwater flow direction, anticipating a North to NEerly flow pattern, etc……w/more emphasis on monitoring of the NE corner of the property, incl. downgrade of the entire UST area, etc. I would appreciate your reviewing the 2 figures and letting me know if you prefer another arrangement --- keeping in mind however, that we have GPR-cleared each of the original 19 boring locations – and the 2 amended well locations, clearing utilities to a radial distance of 10 feet around each boring, etc. Thank you, John John G.
