Box 144820 Salt Lake City Utah 84114-4820 Dear Director Hill Air Force Base is submitting this notification, pursuant to Conditions II.B.52.d existing affected boilers and II.B.53.d new affected boilers of the Main Base Title V Operating Permit (TVOP) 1100007004, which states "the permittee shall submit a notification of alternative fuel use within 48 hours of the declaration of each period of natural gas curtailment or supply interruption. [Origin: 40 CFR 63 Subpart DDDDD] [40 CFR 63.7545(f)]" On the morning of 28 October 2023 starting at 8:25 am a defective valve resulted in a supply interruption and firing of multiple boilers on DS2 Diesel Fuel Grade 2-D. The valve was fixed on the same day and firing on natural gas resumed. The alternative fuel, DS2 Diesel Fuel Grade 2-D, complies with the specifications under the definition of distillate oil in 40 CFR 60.41c and is Defense Logistics Agency-Energy contracted fuel compliant with MIL-STD-3004B 'DoD Standard Practice-Quality Assurance Surveillance for Fuels, Lubricants and Related Products' for National Stock Number 9140-01- 524-0139.
