Pond 2 was not accepting liquid waste at the time of the inspection. There are three “boiler makers” immersed in Pond 2 that churn the water to help with evaporation, and barrel skimmers are used to remove oil from the surface. This is part of Wasatch Regional’s plan to eliminate oil. Pond 3 receives pumped-in leachate (from the landfill) where it evaporates. Potential non-hazardous oily liquids are sent directly to the Solidification Pit. There it is mixed with dry absorbent solid waste to pass the Paint Filter Test. 8.
