SOUTHWEST JORDAN VALLEY GROUNDWATER CLEANUP PROJECT
STATE OF UTAH NATURAL RESOURCE DAMAGE TRUSTEE
COMMENT RESPONSE SUMMARY
AUGUST 31, 2004
Response to Common Comment No. 3 – Support for Groundwater Cleanup
A number of commenters expressed support for the proposed aquifer cleanup and containment of
the contaminant plumes. The Trustee appreciates the support local officials and the general
public have provided for the containment and removal of the contaminated groundwater in the
Southwest Jordan Valley.
The objective is to implement a plan that will restore, replace, or acquire the equivalent of the
damaged groundwater resources for the benefit of the public in the Affected Area. See Sections
V.D.1 and V.D.4 of the Consent Decree. The Consent Decree also supports the overall cleanup
objective of containment and reduction of the contaminants in the aquifer over the 40-year period.
The Joint Proposal is designed to accomplish these objectives.
