Sample collection was attempted at SWMU 401, but unsuccessful due to the presence of concrete in the ditch that could not be broken apart with a sledgehammer. Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation will bring in a concrete corer to access the soil beneath the concrete. Groundwater samples were collected at groundwater monitoring wells D-6, C-1, and C-3 using a Hydrasleeve SpeedBag sampler. Groundwater samples were collected for VOC and perchlorate analysis. Samples for VOC analysis were always collected first; the samples for perchlorate analysis were collected after. The Hydrasleeve samplers were lowered to 10 feet above the known depth of the wells (within a 20-foot screen) to collect the groundwater samples. Water level measurements are conducted separately by a contractor prior to groundwater sampling. The water level data is available to the sampler at the time of sampling.
