Is a spring box vent present? ... if yes, answer the following question(s) Rule: R309-515-7(7)(d), R309-545-15 Rule requires junction boxes and collection boxes to comply with R309-545 with respect to venting. Therefore, a junction or collection box requires a vent to be fitted with #14 mesh or finer non-corrodible screen, be fitted with a protective heavy-gauge screen or covering if 6 inches in diameter or greater, be down-turned and shielded to prevent the entrance of contaminants, be located and sized to avoid blockage during winter, and have the end of the vent discharge a minimum of 24 inches above the earth on buried structures. Notes:overflow could act as a vent, but fabricating a vent to the spring lid hatch is a better option and recommended to meet the intent of the rule and avoid blockage during winter.
