Dear Aron Frisk:The Division of Drinking Water (the Division) received a request for an Operating Permit for McGhie Springs Well REPL-1 Rehabilitation (WS025) from your consultant, Eric
Neil, P.E. and Bowen Collins & Associates, Inc.on September 27, 2024. The Division issued Plan Approval for this project on September 27, 2023.
Our understanding of the project includes the following:
Removal and addition of pump shaft and tremie lines.
Pump, motor, and screen repair as needed.
Mechanical and chemical cleaning includes acid, high chlorine, and clay dispersant treatment.
The chemical and mechanical cleaning is intended to improve the performance of the McGhie
Springs Well after the pumping equipment is replaced. All substances introduced into the McGhie
Springs Well during construction or development have been specified to comply with ANSI/NSF
Standard 60 or as specifically approved in writing by the Division. The McGhie Springs Well REPL-1 is identified as WS025 in the Division’s database.
We have received the following information for McGhie Springs Well REPL-1 Rehabilitation (WS025):
Certification of Rule Conformance with plan approval conditions by a professional engineer and changes made during construction were in conformance with rules R309-500 through 550. —
The production casing was abandoned from 700 to 790 feet. An approval from DWRi to abandon this section was received as part of the OP request. Three stainless steel swage patches were
installed between 504 to 515 feet below the top of casing.
As-built or record drawings.
Satisfactory bacteriological results as evidence of proper disinfection and flushing.
We have determined that all conditions for operating permit issuance have been met. On this basis, an Operating Permit for McGhie Springs Well REPL-1 Rehabilitation (WS025) is hereby
issued as constituted by this letter. You may now place McGhie Springs Well REPL-1 (WS025) in service in your water system.
Please maintain a copy of this letter with your permanent records for future reference.
