During 2022, the total calculated bio-solids produced were 190 dry metric tons (DMT) Of Class B bio-solids. These solids were removed from the West Facultative Sludge Basin (FSB) with a dump truck. The property is owned by Price River Water Improvement District. The farmer incorporated the bio-solids into the soil to grow corn and other feed crops. The transportation was accomplished from November 2, 2022 through November 10, 2022 so tillage could be accomplished before snowfall or heavy frost. Bio-solids Disposal Practice and Site Restriction The District has numerous landowner/farmers who would like to have bio-solids applied to their fields. The District is conscientious to ensure that the application site will be sprinkle irrigated, fenced, level, incorporated quickly, and that the planned crop for the coming years will not be a root-crop, nor will be fed to dairy animals. Additionally, the area has no grazing of livestock. The area for 2022 is a first-time application of approximately 3.5 acres of the 9 available to us. The rate of application allowed for approximately 53 dry metric tons per acre, or 12.7 truckloads per acre, as only about 40 percent of the area was utilized. As this site is a one-time application, no soils monitoring was required. The site is located at GPS coordinates: 39°32'06.3"N 110°43'00.5"W Bio-solids Treatment Practice The Price River Water Improvement District employs a two-stage digestion process that first treats the solids for between 40 – 60 days through anaerobic digestion in a mesophilic temperature range maintained as closely as possible to 36 degrees Celsius with brief and minor fluctuations above or below by one or two degrees. Then, the solids are pumped to a Facultative Sludge Basin (FSB) to accommodate a Process to Further Reduce Pathogens. Solids are held under 15 feet of water and allowed over the next several months to continue to biodegrade. A surface aerator is installed on the FSB to ensure the top two feet of water remains aerobic, thus promoting the growth of facultative micro-organisms and controlling the formation of odor creating bacteria. Certification Statement “I certify, under penalty of law, that the heavy metals requirements in Part II.B.1, the pathogen requirements in Part II.B.2, the vector attraction requirements in Part II.B.3, and the management practices in Part II.C. This determination has been made under my direction and supervision in accordance with the system designed to assure that qualified personnel properly gather and evaluate the information used to determine that the pathogen requirements, the vector attraction requirements, and the management practices have been met. I am aware that there are significant penalties for false certification including the possibility of imprisonment.” Signed, Blaine S. Shipley Waste Water Superintendent Price River Water Improvement District The analyses presented on this report were performed in accordance with the National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (NELAP) unless noted in the comments, flags, or case narrative.
