The Division issued Plan Approval for the transmission lines, replacement of the existing Kent Pump Station (PF005) and the Kent Chlorinator (TP029), a new on-site chlorine generation system, on January 25, 2022. A temporary operating permit for the project was issued by the Division on July 17, 2024. This project has met all the conditions for receiving an operating permit. Our understanding of the project is that GHID replaced the existing Ridgeland booster pump station and flow control building located at 2390 S 3600 W in West Valley City, Utah to feed the drinking water distribution system in the nearby area. The booster pump station and flow control building are being replaced due to the age of the existing pumps and building. The building previously housed a now abandoned well and its age is estimated as 1969. This pump station draws water from the existing Ridgeland #5 2 MG Storage Reservoir (ST007). The new pump station includes both the flow control valve and booster pumps and will more reliably supply water to the existing Zone 4 pressure zone. Along with replacement, the district also replaced approximately 75 feet of the existing 14-inch diameter asbestos cement pipe with 16-inch diameter PVC C-900 pipe and site work. The site work included replacing the onsite generator, removing the fuel station, adding two stormwater detention ponds and site landscaping to West Valley City Standards. The tank is filled with the same line that feeds the booster pumps. It is a bi-directional fill and pump line. The flow into and out of the tank is controlled by a flow control valve. The two new horizontal split-case booster pumps are the same capacity as the two booster pumps that they replaced. The water pressure in Zone 4 is not expected to change with this replacement project. This pump (model Peerless pump 6AE16) system is designed to deliver 2,000 gallons per minute (gpm) from ST007 at total dynamic head (TDH) of 201 feet to Zone 4 with the capacity of 150 HP. We have received the following information for Ridgeland Booster Pump Station (PF002): Design engineer’s statement of conformance. Satisfactory bacteriological results as evidence of proper disinfection and flushing. Evidence of operation and maintenance manual delivery. We have determined that the conditions for issuing a permanent Operating Permit have been sufficiently met as all the outstanding work including asphalt repair, back-up generator installation, site cleanup etc. as mentioned in the temporary operation permit letter issued on July 17, 2024. On this basis, an Operating Permit forReplacement of Ridgeland Booster Pump Station (PF002)is hereby issued. If you have any questions regarding this Operating Permit, please contact Nagendra Dev, P.E., of this office, at (801) 680-5296, or Michael Newberry, P.E., Engineering Manager, at (385) 515-1464.
