Director August 27, 2024 Seth Oveson Monte Vista Community Water Co 713 N 3700 W Cedar City, UT 84720 Subject: Notice of Increased Monitoring Requirements for Monte Vista Community Water Co, UTAH11036 Clayten Nelson: The Division of Drinking Water (the Division) has not received updated Drinking Water Source Protection (DWSP) plans for Monte Vista Well 1 (WS001) and Well #2 (WS002), which were required by December 31, 2022, and December 31, 2016, respectively. As a result, the reduced monitoring waivers previously applied to these sources have been revoked. A volatile organics sample is now required from the grouped source sample station (identified as SS061) every three years. The next volatile organics sample is due sometime between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2025. We strongly encourage the water system to submit an updated source protection plan and signed waiver statement for these sources. Please contact Deidre Beck at (385) 271-7046 or via email at dbeck@utah.gov with questions regarding source protection requirements. The updated monitoring requirements for this grouped source sample station are given below. An updated monitoring schedule can be viewed any time at waterlink.utah.gov under the water monitoring section.
